One of the most memorable experiences I have ever had when traveling to Alaska is viewing the Northern Lights. They are also known as the Aurora Borealis. This natural light display is something everyone should see; it is Incredible. They are most visible in the Northern Hemisphere during the winter months. The best time to see the Northern Lights in Alaska is between September and April. And if you want help, there are a variety of tour companies that offer guided viewing trips. They will take you to the best locations.
I Totally fell in Love with Denali National Park! It is home to the highest peak in North America, Mount Denali. This 6-million-acre park is an absolute paradise. You will love this for hiking and climbing. It offers a range of trails and activities for any skill level. The park is also home to a wide variety of wildlife. This includes grizzly bears, moose, and wolves. I found this to be a great destination for wildlife viewing.
Another popular destination in Alaska is the Inside Passage. The Inside Passage is a network of waterways. This is Awesome. You will find this along the state’s southeast coast. Alaska is also home to an abundance of wildlife. You will see moose and caribou. It is not uncommon in Alaska to have moose holding up traffic! You will also be able to see otters and whales. I really was Amazed at the amount of wildlife there is in this Incredible State.

The Beauty of the Fairbanks Area
The Fairbanks, Alaska area is literally a work of art. I don’t think any place on earth can match its natural beauty. Located in the heart of the Interior region, Fairbanks is surrounded by visually stunning landscapes. You will be awestruck by the rolling hills and forests of the Tanana Valley. Then more “Awesomeness” as you look at the majestic peaks of the Alaska Range.
I think one of the most beautiful places in the Fairbanks area is the Chena River State Recreation Area. I loved this park! It covers over 6,000 acres and has a lot of activities to choose from. You can enjoy hiking, fishing, and boating. The park also has quite a number of beautiful trails. They wind through the forests and along the banks of the Chena River.
I want to tell you about another beautiful spot in the Fairbanks area. That is the University of Alaska’s Large Animal Research Station. Located just outside of town, this facility is home to a number of different species of animals. When you go here you will see muskoxen, caribou, and reindeer. You can also take guided tours of the facility and see these amazing creatures up close.
Winter is Beautiful
In the winter months, the Fairbanks area is transformed into a winter wonderland. The aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, is a Must See! The Fairbanks area also has many ski resorts and cross-country ski trails. The University of Alaska’s Geophysical Institute is a big help here. They offer guided aurora viewing tours.
