Rescue An Animal

There are many pets in shelters. They are good animals waiting for their forever home. They are not at fault. Many of them have been abused. You will find a wide variety of animals to adopt. For many people, the first thought that would come to mind would be dogs and cats. But you will also find birds, reptiles, and even potbellied pigs. If you are looking for a furry or feathery friend, you should rescue an animal. You will gain a great friend and give them the home they deserve.

My Rescue Story

rescue an animal

I was living in Kent WA. It was March 2002. I decided that I wanted to adopt a dog. That way, I could rescue an animal and get a dog at the same time. So, I went to the local animal shelter to see how the process worked. When I went there that day, I had no intention of getting a dog. I instantly fell in love with one of the dogs there. He was about three months old, and he stole my heart. I took him home with me that day and named him Rowdy. He was the best friend in the world! I could not have asked for more. I had Rowdy as my best friend for over 14 years.

It was once again time to rescue an animal. I was living back in my home state of Minnesota. It was April 24, 2019. I went here to start my new journey. I found my current best friend, Chaos that day. He was about 1 1/2 years old when I adopted him. He had a completely different personality from Rowdy. Both were impossible not to love. I was fortunate to find another great dog. But the truth is animal shelters are full of great animals. All they need is a chance. Give them a chance and you will be rewarded for it. The reward they will give you will be unconditional love.

Create your Animal Rescue Story

Every year, sad to say, more than 6 million pets enter animal shelters across the US. At any given time, there are about 70 million stray animals on US streets. Only about 4.1 million shelter animals are adopted each year. According to the ASPCA, about 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized each year in the US, which includes about 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats. We need to change these numbers. These animals deserve better. You can be a part of the change. You will be rewarded with love when you rescue an animal.

There are many options out there. Unfortunately, there is a constant need for animal shelters. There will be one close to you. You will find lovable animals to adopt like the one on the right. You can be the one to help change this. And you can be the one to make a difference. We all need to get the word out so these animals can be saved. If you are not looking to add a pet, you can still donate to these organizations. They are chronically short of money to care for these animals. They are also constantly looking for people to foster animals while they are waiting to find their forever homes.

Let’s Solve the Problem

It is a very important step to help solve the problem-spay or neuter your pet. That would go a long way in reducing the problem we have right now. If you have questions about the procedure, this is a good site to go to get answers: Vets4Pets. They will clear up the misconceptions many people have about spaying and neutering. If you need help with the cost, go here. They will help you find a low-cost clinic near you. If you want to truly understand the new dog, you just brought home, read this page I wrote on how to understand your dog.

I want to tell you about an incredible organization. It is Rescue Me! They are doing stellar work! If you are looking to adopt a pet, you can look for a pet by breed and in the State, you live in. If you have an animal, you can no longer care for, they will help you find a home for it. Rescue Me! is really doing all they can and could use any help you can offer. If we all do our part, we can give these animals the life they deserve.
